Our People

Throughout Buckeye’s operational history, our culture has been key in successfully navigating transformational challenges and capitalizing on opportunities.

And, now as ever, our culture is a critical element as we seek to thrive through the energy transition. Our culture revolves around taking a collaborative, problem-solving, entrepreneurial approach to addressing our customers’ most important needs, which has driven the development of our platform. Since 1886, Buckeye has successfully navigated transitions in the way energy has been delivered – today, we have an outsized opportunity to capitalize on the opportunities the energy transition is going to present.

OUR COMMITMENT TO OUR EMPLOYEES:

In order to achieve our mission to meet the current and evolving needs of our customers, we have implemented a set of core commitments to our people and our culture that will enable our success. These include:

Operating as a Purpose-driven Team.

We have built a team culture that supports and rewards trust, accountability, partnership, and fairness – where people get great results from knowledge-sharing and being treated with respect.

Fostering a Collaborative Environment.

Buckeye has developed a culture that is team oriented in every sense. Idea-sharing meetings across the ranks are routine, pulling together employees with a wide range of backgrounds and skill sets to work together on strategy and performance solutions. We look for people who want to communicate new ideas and put them into action throughout the organization.

Providing Opportunities to Align Skills and Interests.

Buckeye places an emphasis on career-pathing for employees, by continually aligning employees’ skills and interests with the organization’s evolving needs and providing impactful training to help employees excel in their roles and grow professionally.

Pursuing Projects that
Allow for Growth.

At Buckeye, we innovate, solve problems, and make breakthroughs. We are attracted to challenging projects that move beyond the status quo.

Buckeye’s leadership team is visible, accessible, and engaged, which demonstrates not only their commitment to the success of the organization but also the value that they place on Buckeye’s employees.”

Promoting Inclusiveness AND BELONGING

At Buckeye, we stand together to drive change, including the buildout of an organization that values all backgrounds and perspectives. We take a comprehensive approach to bolstering our inclusion and belonging efforts with oversight and support at the highest levels of the organization. Our four areas of focus are operating as a purpose-driven team, fostering a collaborative environment, providing opportunities to align skills and interests, and pursuing projects that allow for growth.

Our commitments, which begin with a purposeful talent acquisition strategy that focuses on sourcing and recruiting qualified and capable candidates, are carried throughout our organization in the form of recruitment initiatives, employee resource groups, ongoing efforts to ensure fair and equitable compensation practices, and more. We see each of these commitments as important to the growth and development of our employees on an individual level, but also as critical to our success as a Company.

Career Stories

Emily Litwa

Specialist, Health & Safety
Trenton, NJ

I’ve been with Buckeye for 10 years and currently serve as a Specialist, Health & Safety in the East Region. Buckeye’s commitment to safety being paramount in our day-to-day operations has truly shaped who we are as a company. The organization genuinely cares about its people first and foremost, and that culture is felt at every level. Throughout my career here, Buckeye has helped me grow, not only professionally, but personally as well. It’s allowed me to discover my passion for helping others and gives me the opportunity to do that every day through Health & Safety. Buckeye fosters a strong sense of family and community, where co-workers and leadership are supportive, encouraging, and invested in your success.

Fredrick Ward

Senior Manager, Health & Safety
Fort Lauderdale, FL

I am a Senior Manager, Health & Safety in the Gulf/Caribbean region. My favorite aspect of my job is the diverse collection of people I get to interact with on a daily basis. Working in the Caribbean and the states affords me the ability to experience different cultures and different ways of thinking. The thing I enjoy the most about working at Buckeye is twofold. I enjoy the people and I enjoy the way the company continues to evolve and look to the future as it relates to assets. I love the people-first culture we are building. My overall experience at Buckeye has been great. I have been afforded opportunities in such a short period of time due to my hard work and not because of longevity, and that speaks to how the company values work ethic. A prospective candidate should choose Buckeye, because quite simply the company believes in fostering diversity and advancing their employees’ careers. They will nurture you and develop you into the best version of yourself.

Kimberly Trostel

Sr. Specialist II, Air Compliance
Lima, OH

I am a Sr. Specialist II, Air Compliance at Buckeye. My favorite aspect of my job is that I get to help operators, managers, project managers, and others in the field. My goal is to make their job easier. My role is to understand the Clean Air Act as it applies to our operations and ensure that we maintain compliance with said act. I enjoy that no two days are the same at Buckeye.  The most exciting project I worked on gave me the chance to be the point of contact on an acquisition for all things compliance related.  It also allowed me to interact with multiple departments and operations teams in the company.  There is always a challenge to keep me on my toes, and a new change is always on the horizon.

Brian Barr

Manager, Damage Prevention and Encroachment
Allentown, PA

My career journey at Buckeye started 27 years ago in the summer of 1999.  I never expected my college summer job to turn into my career.  My current role at Buckeye is Manager, Damage Prevention and Encroachment Review within the Right of Way, Real Estate, and Damage Prevention Team.  As part of my role, I manage the 811 Team and the Encroachment Review Team as well as oversee the Damage Prevention Program for Buckeye.  One of the things that I am most thankful for over the course of my career is the investment others have made in me.  I learned and experienced so much early on in my career. The knowledge that was passed down to me from my coworkers and the various SME’s I encountered taught me the right way – the Buckeye way – to go about my daily job, and gave me an understanding as to the “why” and “how” behind pipeline operations. Passing along that knowledge to the next generation is the main reason I decided to make a jump into the role I have today.

I strive to keep Buckeye’s rich history of outstanding pipeline operations going. While Buckeye has a long and rich operating history, that “history” does not just live in the past – that history lives on in the Buckeye employees today.  “At Buckeye We …” may be a new catch phrase, but it has been happening for 140 years and is seen in our culture, our mindset, and most importantly, our people.

Edward Senavaitis

Sr. Director, Health and Safety
Allentown, PA

It was Spring of 1999 when I first interviewed at Buckeye for an open safety position in Allentown. During that interview, I met the then Manager of Operations Services, who became a great mentor to me. During our discussions, I remember telling him that I wasn’t looking for a job, I was looking for the right job. One where I could both share my skills and experience and learn from people who believed that safety is a core driver to business success. 23 years later, I still get to work every day with the most talented people in the midstream business. I am now the Sr. Director, Health and Safety. If I were to describe my role, I would say that the entire safety team and I are striving to develop, evolve and sustain a safety culture where risk identification, mitigation and the protection of people are embedded into our daily operational decisions. We do this through intuitive and repeatable processes that provide layers of protection between people and risks, continuous program evolution, and empowering everyone to act in the interest of doing what is right, including exercising the obligation to “Stop Work” whenever necessary. Everyone on the team is fully committed servant leaders, actively engaged in the promotion of our core principals.

Christopher Scheid

Manager, Right of Way
Allentown, PA

In my role as Manager of Right of Way, I oversee the renewal of the easements, licenses, and permits that protect our ongoing pipeline occupancies within their established corridors. Being part of the Right of Way, Real Estate, and Damage Prevention department has been a highlight of my time here. The team is made up of talented individuals who each bring something valuable to the table, and there’s a strong willingness to collaborate and support one another. What keeps me motivated in this role is the combination of problem‑solving and collaboration. Real Estate and Right of Way is full of unique challenges, and I like working with others to break those challenges down and find practical, workable solutions. It’s rewarding to see a project become a safe, reliable part of our operations, and to know the work we put in helped make that possible.

What stands out to me most is our shared sense of purpose and our unwavering commitment to safety, reliability, and quality in everything we do. Buckeye encourages growth and supports employees as they take on new responsibilities, build new skills, and shape their careers. My own experience reflects that, as I’ve been consistently encouraged to grow, expand my responsibilities, and continue developing in ways that align with my long‑term career goals.
