Continuous Training of Buckeye Employees
Buckeye continually conducts training for all of its employees. This training ensures that Buckeye employees maintain the skills necessary to maintain and operate its pipelines and facilities in a safe manner. Buckeye and its contract employees are qualified to conduct maintenance activities and inspections as required under the U.S. Department of Transportation CFR Part 192 and 195, Operator Qualification Regulations. All Buckeye and contract employees have been trained in hazardous materials and emergency response.
Training is conducted throughout the year on all aspects of inspections, maintenance work, and emergency response activities. In addition to keeping Buckeye employees aware of new developments in the industry, it also strengthens employee knowledge of existing activities. This ensures that Buckeye employees maintain, and keep in proper operating condition, all of its equipment and respond to any emergencies that may arise.

During emergency response training, outside agencies such as local fire departments are invited to attend. During such training activities, Buckeye conducts hands on training and simulates an actual leak so its employees can practice the skills they have been trained on.
At Buckeye’s major facilities, local emergency responders are invited to an open house where the facility’s emergency plan is discussed. This is to ensure that in an emergency the responders will understand the facility, be able to respond accordingly, and be able to make the proper decisions to provide for the safety of the public and the emergency responders. |
